Q:  Is there a website I can visit periodically for updates on the eCollege Vista system?

A:  Yes, go to the eCollege homepage at http://ecollege.lonestar.edu and look for the box at the bottom of the screen: Get Started with eCollege Vista.

 

Q:  I currently use a publisher's epack for my WebCT course.  What should I do to get ready?

A:  Contact your publisher's representative to determine if an epack is available for Vista version 4.  Starting with a new epack designed for Vista 4 will likely work better than converting an existing epack. Many epack files and quizzes cannot be exported due to security measures from the publisher.

Q:  I use a publisher's test bank in my current WebCT course.  What should I do to get ready?

A:  Every test bank is different so there is no simple answer for this question.  If you or others have spent considerable effort pulling a test bank into WebCT, it will likely be worth your time to download copies of your exams using Respondus.

 

Q:  How do I request a course on the new Vista system?

A:  The Vista server is populated with sections, designers, instructors and students from data from Colleague so there is no need to request your sections. However, for special resources and incompletes, there is a Course Request form in the faculty/Staff area of eCollege.  Course Request Forms [Requires eCollege Login]

 

Q:  How will I login to Vista?

A:  On the Go To Class page there is a "Login" button for Vista. This login authenticates using either the eCollege Login (same as MyWorkshops) or MyRecords Login (available from 5am through 11pm). Go To Class

 

Q:  How will my students know how to login?

A:  Student will see the Go To Class link on the homepage of eCollege. When  they register they receive these instructions. The Go To Class page provides instruction for login.

 

Q:  Why can't I move or edit a file?

A:  The file may need to be “unsubscribed”.  To check,

  • Go to File Manager
  • If there is a little green & white icon beside the file then it is subscribed.  
  • Click the check boxes beside each subscribed file (or use the check all feature at the top) 
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click unsubscribe.

 

Q:  Why am I having problems opening Office 2007 files?

A:  A patch installed on the Vista system corrected several problems.  However, a file uploaded prior to the patch installation on September 27 will continue to have problems.  This issue is specific to Internet Explorer so using a different browser, such as Firefox, should help.

 

Q:  Why can't I or my students get into Vista after 11:00 pm?

A:  The Vista login system uses data from several systems.  One of those, MyRecords, undergoes maintenance every night at 11:00.  So, anyone attempting to login at that time with their MyRecords information are unable to login. Try using the eCollege (Passkey) password or contact the DL Helpdesk for assistance.
