Instructions for Speed Test and Trace Route

Part 1 – Speed Test:

1. Go to http://209.133.124.238:81/bboardspeed.html
2. Click on the button “Click to start MySpeed”
3. Wait for the speed test to complete.
4. Click on Advanced on the left.
5. Click on “View text” in the bottom right hand corner.
6. Highlight the text and right click.
7. Click Copy.
8. Open your e-mail and create a new message.
9. Paste the results into the e-mail
10. Address the new e-mail to distance.learning@lonestar.edu and send.

Part 2 – Trace Route:

Option 1 (Easy):

1. Download trace2vista -> 135241.zip 
2. Extract the zip file to your desktop.
3. Double Click trace2vista.bat.
4. A DOS Window will appear.
           -Do not close the window until instructed!
           -This may take a minute or two!
5. Notepad will launch with your trace route data.
6. Copy the results of the trace route.
7. Open your e-mail and create a new message.
8. Paste the results from the text file into the new e-mail.
9. Address the new e-mail to distance.learning@lonestar.edu and send.
10. Close Notepad and the DOS window if it is still open.

 Option 2 (Advanced):

1. Go to a DOS Prompt.
2. Type tracert -w 120 nhmccdvista4.blackboard.com.
3. Once the trace route is complete copy the results from the DOS Prompt.
4. Paste the results into the new e-mail.
5. Include the date and time that you ran the trace route.
6. Address the new e-mail to distance.learning@lonestar.edu and send.
