Online Teaching Certification Course
Teaching online can offer additional challenges for faculty and students alike because of the mode of delivery. Faculty members may have teaching principles in place, but transitioning to teaching online is more than moving notes online. The Online Teaching Certification Program introduces faculty to basics of using the Course Management System, as well as how to implement best practices for creating an engaging and effective online class.
Online classes have the same learning outcomes as traditional classes and, therefore, should offer the same opportunities for learning. Online classes are not independent study or self-paced, but rather, theses classes are conducted with timelines and schedules similar to traditionally delivered classes. The ultimate goal is for student learning to take place, and the Center for Teaching and Distance Learning is committed to making sure faculty have the knowledge and tools available to make that happen!
